Today in Philly Sports – May 14th, 2010 – Flyers Come Back Down 3-0 in the Series and 3-0 in the Game to Win Game 7 against the Bruins

7 years ago today, the Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Boston Bruins 4-3 in a historic Game 7 of the Eastern-Conference Semifinals. The Flyers came back from being down 3-0 in the series, just the 3rd time in NHL History a team won a best of 7 series after losing the first 3 games. The come back started in Game 4, on the brink of elimination, with a Simon Gagne goal in overtime and the come back ended with a game winning goal by Simon Gagne in the 3rd period of Game 7.

Game 7 for the Flyers did not start off well, the Bruins scored 3 goals in the first 15 minutes of the 1st period. After the 3rd goal, Peter Laviolette called a timeout to settle the troops. The timeout worked and sparked a Flyers comeback for the ages. The Flyers went on to score 4 straight goals, 1 in the 1st, 2 in the 2nd, and 1 in the 3rd, to complete the 3-0 deficit in the game and in the series. Flyers goals were scored by James Van Riemsdyk, Scott Hartnell, Daniel Briere, and Simon Gagne.
