20 years ago today, the Philadelphia Flyers beat the New York Rangers 4-2 in game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals to advance to the Stanley Cup. The majority of the scoring came in the first period as the Flyers led 3-2 at the end of the first. Flyers goals were scored by Rod Brind’Amour (2), Eric Lindros, and John LeClair. The Flyers out shot the Rangers 29 to 19, with Ron Hextall stopping 17 of the 19 shots. It was the 7th time in franchise history that the Flyers advanced to the Stanley Cup.
